ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR)

The National Symposium on Harnessing Plant Genetic Resources of Peninsular India (NSPPI 2026) will be hosted at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR), Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru, Karnataka, from 17–19 September 2026.
Recognized as one of India’s premier horticultural research institutions, ICAR-IIHR has made significant contributions to crop improvement, conservation of plant genetic resources, production technologies, post-harvest management, and sustainable horticulture. The institute is also home to extensive field gene banks, research farms, and advanced laboratories that support cutting-edge research in horticultural sciences.

The city enjoys a pleasant climate during September, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 29°C, making it comfortable for delegates from across the country. ICAR-IIHR is located at Hesaraghatta Lake Post, Bengaluru – 560089 and is well connected by air, rail, and road.
- Kempegowda International Airport (BLR): Approximately 30 km (about 30–45 minutes by road).
- Yeshwanthpur Railway Station: Around 24 km from the institute.
- Bengaluru City (KSR) Railway Station: Approximately 45 minutes by road.
- Regular BMTC bus services, taxis, and app-based cab services provide easy access to the campus.

Limited guest house accommodation is also available near the venue, subject to availability. Participants are encouraged to make their travel and accommodation arrangements well in advance.
